LOWER DENS LIVE AT KING IN RALEIGH

Lower Dens took the stage at Kings in Raleigh to a packed house of fans who were literally buzzing with anticipation of the band taking the stage. The feel of the room was not the traditional preconcert feel one typically experiences. Considering the band that was getting ready to play, this made perfect sense.

Lower Dens bright pop sound blended with their emotional and relevant lyrics lends itself to the feeling of an upbeat dance vibe that is tempered with a hard shot of reality. Mixing the two is not an easy thing to do without sounding insincere or uninspiring. Lower Dens mixes their musical talent and poetic writing just right.

The knowing crowd of fans anticipated this, and they were not let down. As the band took the stage and began to play, the crowd began moving to the lush pop sound like there were no cares in the world. As singer Jana Hunter took the mic and began to emote the powerful lyrics they are know for, the atmosphere didn’t dampen. People began to sing along to the bold and moving lyrics without losing any of the energetic buzz they had, but with a sense of the weightiness of the message being shared. This contrast of upbeat music mixed with heavily emotional and introspective lyrics continued throughout the night.

Lower Dens played a show that was beautiful blend of moods, upbeat pop music with a meaningful message that left the crowd engaged, dancing and thinking.
