BARENAKED LADIES LIVE!! | REDHAT AMPHITHEATER
Barenaked Ladies performed at the Redhat Amphitheater in Raleigh NC on Saturday July 16th to a sold out crowd. The Barenaked Ladies are from Canada and formed in 1988, there breakthrough album was their debut with Reprise Records which was released in 1992 called, Gordon, featuring the hit single "If I had a million dollars" This was the first time I had ever heard of them, I was a young teenager at the time and that hit single was played everyday and all day on our local radio stations. The bands popularity and success only grew with the release of their 4th album called “Stunt” which included such hits as “One week” and “Its all been done”. I was graduating high school at the time of this albums release and my friends and I loved it! The bands success only grew as the years went on and you might not even know this but Barenaked ladies wrote the theme song to the show Big Bang Theory which was the number one television in the US for several years. The band has continued to create music even with the departure of co-founding member and singer Steven Page in 2009. You will hear his voice on some of their iconic hits from the 90’s and early 2000’s.
Barenaked ladies have always brought humor to their live performances and their show at the Redhat in Raleigh was no different. The sold out crowd went crazy when the band hit the stage and they sounded great and looked happy to be in Raleigh. The band had this large screen behind them that showed very cool pictures or played artistically styled videos including one representing an old reel to reel machine. The band also had great support for their tour stop in Raleigh. The iconic band Toad the Wet Sprocket opened the show and was followed by the early 90’s powerhouse group Gin Blossoms. The show was fun and was mixed with humor, stories and also this incredible display of lights that lit up the amphitheater during certain parts of the show.
If you are an old school or new school fan of this icon band who has been performing for over 30 years then you won’t want to miss out on their live performance.
