Fleet Foxes performed at the Redhat Amphitheater in Raleigh NC on July 29th 2022.

f28 covered Fleet Foxes several years ago so we knew to expect a really great show mixed with humor and great sounding music. Fleet Foxes is an indie folk rock band that formed in 2006 and released their first self titled album called “Fleet Foxes” in 2008. I was introduced to the band when I heard the song “Ragged Wood” from their debut album and I was then hooked. The band released their second album in 2011 called “Helplessness Blues” which included songs such as, “The Shrine/An Argument” and “Grown Ocean”. The groups third album is the one that at least I believe really put them on the map. The album “Crack Up” was released in 2017 and brought the band some steady radio airplay with songs such as, “I am all that I need” and “Fools Errand”. When I talked to fans of Fleet Foxes about their most notable song, most people talk about their most recent hit which is a great song called “Can I believe you” off of their 2020 album called “Shore”. The band continues to tour and continues to make great music.

Now let’s talk about the show!

Fleet Foxes brought their indie folk rock sound to the Raleigh Redhat Amphitheater on what started out as a beautiful hot sunny day but, unfortunately, by the end of the day about an hour before the band was to hit the stage a lighting storm rolled in. The entire venue was evacuated and thousands of fans went across the street for shelter or to local restaurants and bars near the venue. I and my fellow media photographers sheltered in a building across the street and watched the lighting storm illuminate the sky overhead. The venue did a great job in getting people out and we all waited for the storm to pass. After the storm started to pass we got word the venue was opening back up. We arrived and walked in ready to cover one of the greatest indie folk rock bands in music today. The band hit the stage and lead singer Robin Pecknold came out and greet the crowd. He thanked everyone for sticking with them and coming back after the storm had passed. The venue allowed the band to play for one extra hour since the storm delayed their performance. The entire band sounded great and Robin’s voice was clear and on key. Music fans were singing along with the band and raising their hands up in the air with heart symbols to show the band some of their love. Fleet Foxes has always put on a great show and this one was no different. The band sounded fluid and strong while performing some of their most beloved songs to their Raleigh North Carolina fans.

If you love indie folk music then you don’t want to miss their performance. They are one of the best folk bands touring today.

Uwade performed as the supporting artist for the band before the storm came in and cut her set short. She sounded amazing and has a beautiful voice. She came out and joined the band for their opening song of the night when they hit the stage.
