While She Sleeps Live! | Lincoln Theater Raleigh NC
While She Sleeps performed at the Lincoln Theater in Raleigh North Carolina on April 25, 2022.
I have to start off by saying this was one of the best performances of the year hands down. Our first introduction to While She Sleeps was a few years ago when they had a tour stop in Durham NC at the Motorco Music Hall. (See picture below)
That was a show I would never forget because they put one hell of a powerful performance, but this time around they brought the energy up a notch. One thing to keep in mind about this band is there dedicated and passionate fanbase who always come out to their shows to show their love and support. You can see that the band is well aware of this incredible connection, and they take every chance to closely engage and connect with their loyal fanbase at every show. Lead singer Lawrence Taylor is known for jumping into the crowd and either joining people in the mosh pit or crowd surfing across the venue while singing his heart out. He will also go right up to the barriers that separate the fans from the stage and shake peoples hands, high five them and have them join him while singing a lyric or two. He is very engaging with the crowd and really does love performing as does the rest of the band who also give just as much energy and passion into their performance and love sharing these once in a lifetime moments with them.
So lets talk a little bit about the show. Before While She Sleeps even hit the stage I could hear people talking about them, about their first experiences seeing them live or being excited about seeing them that night for the first time. I heard people telling other people to “get ready, this show is going to be amazing” and I could see people shaking with excitement in anticipation of seeing them perform. When the band came out and started into their first song the venue just ignited with people jumping around, climbing the barricades and trying to get as close as they can to the band. I and a few other photographers were in the pit which was a very small narrow space between the stage and barricade during the start of their performance, and I can say firsthand, it was a wild and unpredictable moment. Lawrence Taylor (Lead Singer), without hesitation, jumped onto the barricade and started embracing fans while having a huge ass smile on his face. You could see the sweat dripping down and never-ending energy this band was bringing to the stage. While She Sleeps puts on one of those performances that when you try to tell people what it was like being there, you can’t find the words to express it clearly. You can only say, “you had to be there, it was incredible, unforgettable and one hell of a show”.
While She Sleeps is a band that I consider to be one of the best touring bands around today. They not only engage with their fans during every show with energy and passion, make themselves available for pictures and autographs after the show but they also care deeply about the unseen emotional connection their fans have to them as band and to the music they create and share with the world. You can see from their on stage performances that they really do appreciate that connection and do their best to make sure every fan knows how much they mean to them.
