EVERCLEAR LIVE!! | RITZ RALEIGH

Everclear is a band that I and millions of other music fans around the world have loved.  We got the opportunity to cover their performance at the Ritz in Raleigh and it was a memorable show.  Everclear formed in 1991 and became a force to reckon with during the alternative rock music growth in the 90’s.  The band created major hits including “Father of Mine”, “I will buy you a new life”, “Wonderful”, “Santa Monica”, “Everything to Everyone” and many more.   The band was a staple in a lot of people’s younger years, especially high school students in the 90’s.   They defined a genre or alternative rock with their sound and are forever incrusted in the foundation that built and made 90’s alternative rock amazing.

Now lets talk about the show!

They performed at the Ritz in Raleigh to a packed house of excited and energetic fans.  When the band walked out on to the stage the crowd went wild, and each band member waved to the eager crowd.   The show started and Art Alexakis (lead singer) started singing with his one-of-a-kind voice and I could see people smiling and singing along.  There was one interesting and really crazy moment during the show.  I was in the pit standing in front photographing Art Alexakis sing a song when all of a sudden, I felt something push me from behind and slam me into the stage.  I turned around and saw this guy trying to rush the stage! The security guy right next to me pushed this guy to the side just before he could get his other foot on the stage.  When the guy fell the Ritz security personal ran after him.  They eventual caught him and kicked him out but this was my first time experiencing someone trying to rush the stage.  The security did a great job at protecting Art Alexakis from this random guy but here is the funny thing.  Art did not even skip a beat when it happened, he continued singing and playing even as the guy was trying to jump the stage in front of him.  It was a wild moment of the night.

Besides that, crazy moment the night was amazing.  The band sounded great and they played some of their biggest hits which got the entire venue jumping.  Have the opportunity to see such an alternative rock band play some of their legendary hit songs live was something I will never forget.
