THE ONE EIGHTIES ALBUM RELEASE! | KINGS MUSIC VENUE
I got the chance to cover the album release party of talented duo called “The One Eighties” at the Kings Music Venue in Raleigh NC. The group consists of Autumn Brand who is the lead vocalist of the group and Daniel Cook who is on guitar and backing vocals. We were excited to see this incredibly talented duo perform live as were many other people. One of my favorite songs from them is called “Dead Star Light” which has fractured yet poetic lyrics that examine the inner turmoil of battered love. Autumn Brands voice on this track is perfectly balanced while also being beautifully heartbreaking.
This show was to celebrate their newest album release called “Minefields” which came out August 18th and is currently available for purchase. The show had two incredible supporting acts with the first opener being not only great musicians but also a married team! The duo Courtney Lynn and Quinn performed as the opener for this fun night of music. They sounded great and brought not only humor to the start of the night but impassioned songs about love and change. The next to hit the stage was a group that really kicked up the energy called “Jack the Radio”. This band brought their mix of rock and roll to the floor and people were loving it. They put on a great performance.
As the night went on you started to see more and more people entering the venue and by the time the “The One Eighties” hit the stage, people were making their way up to the front of the stage ready and excited to see them perform. As the duo walked out onto the stage the fans started clapping and cheering. You could see the overwhelming love for the duo envelope the stage. It got to a point that even Autumn Brand sort of stopped for a moment and just stared out into the crowd trying to take it all in. The duos performance was well done. Autumns voice sounded great and Daniel Cook never missed a beat while on guitar and backing vocals. As they performed throughout the night you started to see music fans dancing and hugging each other as if love was in the air.
I had the opportunity to meet the duo for a few minutes and take a few portraits of them. They were both so kind and nice to talk with and just very personable. I was unable to interview them unfortunately but hopefully can get a chance to talk with them in the future. If you want to hear some incredibly well-done musical compositions with a calm yet enchanting voice then the one eighties are a duo you don’t want to miss out on.
