OWL CITY LIVE!! | RITZ MUSIC VENUE
Owl City is an electronic musical project by Adam Young that was created in 2007. Adam Youn is a singer songwriter and mulit-instrumentalist that creates incredibly unique compositions with a mixture of electronic sounds and traditional musical instruments. When it was announced that Owl City would be coming to the Ritz Music Venue in Raleigh NC, I knew f28 had to be there. I have been listening to Owl City since their first releases major label release in 2009 called Ocean Eyes which brought us the classic song called “Fireflies”. Now this single went on to become Diamond Certified which means the single sold over 10 million copies! Owl City (Adam Young) have gone on to create music for films such as “Legend of the Guardians, Wreck It Ralph, The Croods and many others. One of his biggest singles to date is the song called “Good Time” which featured fellow singer songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen whom you may recognize as the singer of the song “Call Me Maybe”. One of my favorite songs from Owl City is called “Shooting Star” which is of his E.P released in 2012 under the same name.
Owl City (Adam Young) has been one of my favorite artists to listen to. The music is just fun and meaningful at the same time. Ok, lets talk about the show!
Let’s start of the overview with one word, “Awesome”. The Ritz was a packed house with fans dancing and singing along with each song. For the opening of his performance, Adam came out alone and played multiple instruments at the same time. He would start off on the keyboard, get a beat going, loop that beat then go and play the drums. He did this with his guitar as well. It was very cool to watch. After that incredible opening, his fellow band members came out and they started to perform. Everyone in the venue was singing along with him as he performed some of his biggest hits and when he started to play “Firefly” I watched the entire venue erupt into a karaoke style sing along.
The performance was great and I was so happy to hear these amazing songs and see people just having a great time. If you get a chance to see Owl City live then I would not miss this opportunity to see a really great artist perform.
