The Aces Live at The Ritz – Raleigh, NC

Date: September 10, 2024
Venue: The Ritz, Raleigh, North Carolina

On a warm September evening, The Ritz in Raleigh transformed into a vibrant haven for indie-pop lovers as The Aces took the stage. Touring in support of their 2023 album I’ve Loved You For So Long, the Utah-based quartet delivered a performance that was equal parts electrifying and emotionally resonant.

Their setlist was a well-balanced mix of new material and fan favorites, including:

  • “Girls Are Running”

  • “I’ve Loved You For So Long”

  • “Stuck”

  • “Suburban Blues” .

Each song was delivered with precision and passion, with Cristal Ramirez’s vocals soaring over the crowd, backed by Katie Henderson’s shimmering guitar work, McKenna Petty’s steady basslines, and Alisa Ramirez’s dynamic drumming.

The band’s chemistry was palpable, not just musically but emotionally. Cristal frequently addressed the audience, sharing personal anecdotes about the songs and expressing gratitude for the fans’ support. One memorable moment came when she spoke about the importance of queer visibility in music, drawing cheers and heartfelt reactions from the crowd. The Aces made the venue feel intimate despite its size, often reaching out to fans in the front row and encouraging singalongs. The audience responded with enthusiasm, turning the show into a collective experience of joy and catharsis.

The lighting design was sleek and moody, shifting between neon hues and soft pastels to match the emotional tone of each song. The minimalist stage setup allowed the band’s performance and personality to shine through, with subtle visuals enhancing the storytelling without overwhelming it. One of the best bands touring today.
