INTERVIEW WITH ELIAS SORIANO OF NONPOINT!

James: Thank you, Elias, for taking some time out before the show to do this interview with me.
Elias: Not a problem man
J: I was wondering, how do you and the band keep up the energy after all these years touring.
E: I feel a little bit of purpose in what I do, and I'm sure the boys feel the same way I do as long as we continue to connect with people while on tour, it's what really keeps the engine on going. I have a pretty cool job, so it doesn't take too much to get going.
J: What are some of the craziest things you have seen on tour or got to experience?
E: We have seen a lot of crazy things on tour. Specifically, off the top of my head, we went to Destin (FL) with our buddy Earl, and he took us on his boat and we had a school of dolphins splashing around and following the boat. You get to experience some cool stuff out on tour for sure.
J: Do y'all have a favorite city or one that the crowd seems to be more energetic towards the band?
E: Madison (WI). People there are really welcoming and the radio station there has been a massive support for years.
J: Has touring gotten easier after all these years for the band?
E: It's really kind like Groundhog Day. The show comes up, the show comes down. The more you can streamline that, the more you put the right team around you, it gets easier.
J: What is something you and the band do to relax between tours, shows?
E: Downtime is always nice with the family. We are foodies, so we like to travel and find cool stuff and the best restaurants in the area.
J: Is there a favorite song y'all like to play live that the crowd seems to erupt to?
E: Bullet for sure. That one definitely gets the crowd going and doesn't get old.
J: Do y'all have any superstitions or something you have to do before or while the band is on tour?
E: Umm...not really any superstitions, but I would say I definitely like to have "that hour" before we take the stage to get in the right headspace for sure.
J: Do you ever go through a certain time where you don't speak much, to preserve your voice before the show or tour?
E: During that hour before the set and I warm up before the show to get prepared.
J: Is there an artist/band/group you and the band is listening to that we may not know of?
E: We just came off Ship Rocked and we got to catch Dayseeker out. They are an amazing band. They really blew me away.
J: How is doing a show on a cruise ship?
E: It's fun, Ship Rocked is a great experience, we do it often for a reason. It's cool having the fans up close and personal for a period of time. It's special.
J: Is there anything new coming out that the fans can look forward to?
E: Yes...May 21st, we have a new song coming out, Underdog, that’s May 21st... Underdog.
