Rascal Flatts: A Country Powerhouse with a Legacy of Hits
Rascal Flatts is an American country band formed in Columbus, Ohio, in 1999. The trio—Gary LeVox, his second cousin Jay DeMarcus, and Joe Don Rooney—quickly became one of the most successful acts in modern country music. DeMarcus also has deep musical roots, having been part of the Christian duo East to West and serving as the brother‑in‑law of country artist James Otto.
From 2000 to 2010, Rascal Flatts recorded under Disney Music Group’s Lyric Street Records, releasing seven albums during that period. Their longest‑running chart‑topper, “Bless the Broken Road,” held the No. 1 spot for five weeks in 2005 and remains one of their most beloved songs. Another standout, “What Hurts the Most,” dominated both the country and adult contemporary charts in 2005–06 and climbed to No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, cementing the band’s crossover appeal.
