Theory formed in 2001 and has been a staple on the rock music world for almost 20 years. The band has been known musically for blending a mixture of musical genres including rock, alternative rock, hints of metal and country music into there songs. Theory or also known as Theory of a Deadman has several hit songs under their belt including “Bad Girlfriend”, “Hate my life” and “Not Meant to Be” which are all songs from their 2008 Scars and Souvenirs album. After reaching a mainstream success with these radio-friendly hit songs the band continued to tour all over the world.

Theory has put out new music over the years with a new album coming out in 2020 called “Say Nothing”. They have released the first music video for the song “History of Violence” of the new upcoming album which you can watch down below.

With this song, you can hear the changes and growth the band has made over the years. With this release, the band sounds more confident and the music has matured. The way the song is mixed and how lead singer Tyler Connolly explores expanded vocal ranges with a clearer and more engaging vocal performance.

Now let’s talk about the show. Theory headlined a tour stop in Raleigh NC on 10/05/2019 at the Ritz Music Venue in Raleigh North Carolina. The band walked out to screaming fans but had a rough start on the first song. Tyler came out to the piano set up in the center of the stage and sat down. As the first notes form the piano began to play Tyler's voice, unfortunately, cracked a few times and you could hear he was out of key. This was noticeable through the entire first song and you could see fans with a slightly worrying look on their face hoping this was not the pre-courser for the rest of the show. So the opening song did not go well but fortunately, this did change by the third song as Tyler started to find his vocal rhythm tonally and the band started to fall into place and the performance got better. Tyler moved around the stage engaging with fans and even pointing at a few fans with a smile. Guitarist Dave Brenner was very engaging with fans and walked up to the front of the stage singing with fans and even at some points kneeling down to get closer to fans. Dean Back and Joey Dandeneau played great and the rest of the show sounded good. Sometimes bands on tour have a rough start to a show expeicially when in some cases they might play several shows in a row. The band ended the show strong and fans were so excited to hear some of their favorite hits from the bands growing catalog.
