Covering Dirty Honey:

“Dirty Honey’s debut single, “When I’m Gone,” went to #3 at Rock Radio, and the band is the only new artist to debut in Rock Radio’s Top 5 in 2019.” That sentence was my introduction to one of the balls to the wall rock and roll bands touring today called Dirty Honey. (Updated - Dirty Honey’s debut single, “When I’m Gone,” just went to NUMBER ONE on the rock radio charts!)

Dirty Honey is a drop of late 70’s classic rock, mixed with a spoonful of powerful late 80’s vocals then spiced up with blues riffs topped off with southern rock charm. I don’t even know if that is the best way to describe them but to be honest all I know is I fucking love them. I got the chance to cover them during their tour stop with Alter Bridge and I was pleasantly surprised. Most vocalists can’t pull off what Marc Labelle is able to produce from his vocal chords. I would compare him in some cases to amazing vocalists such as Robert Plant, Tom Keifer, and Jeff Keith or even say he is a blend of all three. His voice fits perfectly into the band’s creative guitar work of John Notto and bassist Justin Smolian. Drummer Corey Coverstone completes and perfectly compliments the band with his smooth yet powerful drum transitions and rhythm. Just listen to their first single “When I am gone” and you will see exactly what I am talking about. Check it, click play below!

It’s ok if you have it on repeat, I don’t blame you. They also put out there next single called “Rolling 7’s”. Now this song has some passion in it, it really shows the vocal range of Marc Labelle and sucks you in with an infectious chorus. The band sounds great live. They only had a minor issue during their show when lead guitarist John Notto had a chord stop working so you could not hear his guitar. The band handled that small mishap with humor and charm. The rest of the band did not even stop they just kept playing and when the guitar came back on they enjoyed a good laugh with the fans.

The band sounds great live and very well put together. They are very energetic on stage and make sure to share that with the fans. I can see this band growing more and more and someday headlining their own tour. Check out Dirty Honey on their website for tour dates, merch and where you can pick up your copy of their music!
