I have had the honor of covering hundreds of bands as well as upcoming artists and will occasionally witness a future rock and roll icon honing their skills. I officially witnessed this last night at the Cat’s Cradle in Chapel Hill. Her vocal style which is a blend between rock icons Pat Benatar and Lita Ford is a secure and solid foundation to build her rock and roll style sound which I only see growing as time goes on. Diamante brings a refreshing yet classic rock sound to a new generation of music fans. You see, I grew up listening to amazing woman vocalists such as Ann Wilson (Heart), Pat Benatar, Lita Ford, Joan Jett, Stevie Nicks and so many others give passionate yet honest and raw vocal performances underlined by powerful and addictive rock riffs. I see Diamante on her way to becoming one of the great female rock performers and singers of her generation.
Diamante is a hard rock solo artist whose debut album called “Coming in Hot” was released in 2018 and includes kick ass songs such as “Bullet Proof”, “War Cry” and “Haunted”. She is also known for her collaboration with Bad Wolves on their hit song called “Hear Me Now” from their debut album “Disobey”. That collaboration shot that song to #1 on active rock radio charts.
So now let’s talk about the show. We covered Diamante’s tour stop in Chapel Hill on 12/03/2019 at the Cat’s Cradle. This is her first headlining tour so you could feel the excitement and anticipation. The band came out first and then Diamante walked on stage. The band was full of energy and excitement and Diamante herself looked happy and excited to be there. They had a great lighting set up that really matched the energy of the performance. She sang very well and put her energy out to the fans and they took it all in. During certain parts of songs Diamante would swing her head around letting her distinctly identifiable blue hair pierce the air with every head swing. At one point a fan that was front and center of the stage started head banging with her almost in sync. They band brought humor to their show while embracing the fans and making everyone feel a part of the show. The band sounded great with every member playing their parts perfectly with the occasional hiccup do to a wrong chord being played but that was met with laughter from the band and Diamante and the fans loved it.
Overall Diamante put on a great performance and I look forward to seeing where she goes from here with her music. Her voice is strong but can also be very soothing as well. If she comes to your area don’t miss out on this show. Go out and show your support and love. You will be witnessing the first headline tour of a future female rock icon.
