NEW FOUND GLORY LIVE!! | RITZ IN RALEIGH
I was trying to think of how to describe this show and I could not find a word to express how good it was! This show was not only fun but energized and exciting. New Found Glory came out and brought the house down. The venue was packed and the crowd was happy and excited to see them perform. The show also came with some incredible supporting acts including the always amazing Less than Jake who sounded sharp and seem to be getting better with age! The show also featured the band LoLo and Hot Mulligan who also did a great job and got the crowd ready to jump around.
I first heard of New Found Glory 21 years ago in the year 2000 with the release of their self titled album called simply “New Found Glory”. The song “Hit or Miss” which was on heavy radio rotation helped that album sell more then 500,000 copies and reach a huge audience. I was in college at the time when I first heard that song, shortly after hearing it I ran out and bought the CD. I loved the album and some of my favorite songs are “Dress to Kill”, “Eyesore”, “All about her” and “Ballad for the lost romantics”. The band only got better and better as time went on with albums such as “Sticks and Stones (2002)” which had the huge hits “My Friends over you” and “Head on Collision”, then they released “Catalyst (2004) with the hit song “All down hill from here”. They have released 10 full studio albums and have left an indelible mark in the punk/pop punk world.
Lets talk about the show!
At the start of their set the band came on to the stage ready to rock the venue but there was one thing we all noticed. Lead singer Jordan Pundik limped out with a cast on his foot that was wrapped up in blue lights, but this cast did not stop him from having a great time. He moved around the stage and tried to jump around as much as he could. We found out later that he broke his foot during a tour stop but he got it looked at and they put a boot on his foot and he carried on! They did not have to cancel or miss any tour stops which is awesome because we all needed a live show like only they could pull off. The band was excited to be there and ran around the stage pointing at the crowd getting everyone pumped up. People start crowd surfing and singing loudly along with every lyric sung by Jordan.
The show was amazing, fun and I left humming some of my favorite songs. They spoke to the crowd, talked about there appreciation for the bands who are touring with them and their appreciation for the music fans coming out so see them live. New Found Glory I think is one of the greatest bands ever in the punk/pop punk genre. The band did not skip a beat and sounded incredible, they really did sound amazing. If you want to see a legendary punk band and have a great time singing to some of your favorite songs then you need to get tickets to this tour. I am putting this as one of the best shows of 2021, five stars all the way.
