f28 have the pleasure of covering one of the most iconic and influential bands of the last 40+ years, the one the only Styx. They did a solo gig with no openers at the Durham Performing Arts Center (aka -DPAC) in Durham NC and it was a standing room only show. When I walked into the theater it was packed and not a single person was sitting in their chair. Everyone was standing, singing and raising their arms up in celebration as the band sang each song. Styx impact in the world of music is unmeasurable, even trying to verbalize into words the impact they have had is impossible. Styx formed in 1972 and at that time they were based out of Chicago. The group has had numerous hits including “the best of times”, “to much time on my hands”, “Lady”, “Babe” and so many others. They have released 17 studio albums with 9 live album releases over the course of their career. The band has an incredible legacy and it continues to grow. So check out the links below to learn more about them. Also check out their brand new album called “Crash of the Crown” which is out now!! Now onto the show!

Styx played to a standing room only crowd at the DPAC in Durham NC. The band played two sets with an intermission in between. The band played some of the biggest hits as the crowd sang along with every note. The band was perfect and sounded clean and clear. Vocal performances were strong and the band still has a great stage presence after all these years. The band was excited to be there and you would see that in their performance as well as them really embracing the crowd. I saw each band member smiling in between each song, probably telling little personal jokes but they seemed happy and you could tell they still loved playing live. Styx is a band that you have to see live not only because they are legends with incredible song writing skills but also a band that brings happiness and joy. I saw only happy faces that night as each Styx fan was having a great time, smiling and laughing as well as dancing along with each hit song the band performed. Styx is currently on tour and they are definitely a band that any music lover needs to see live.
