CREED LIVE!! | WALNUT CREEK

Coverage by Chris Sturk

We covered Creed during their tour stop at the Coastal Credit Union Music Park (Walnut Creek) to a sold-out crowd of 20,000 screaming fans. I saw Creed perform at a venue in Massachusetts over 20 years ago and that show was good, but this particular show was absolutely incredible! The band is back and better than ever. After several years on hiatus, the band is bringing every ounce of energy they have to this tour and really want to make this tour one to remember for the ages. Original band members Scott Stapp (vocals), Mark Tremonti (lead guitar), Brian Marshall (bass guitar) and Scott Phillips (drums) are back with the new addition of guitarist Eric Friedman (the band Tremonti) and each one of them performed without a hitch. Scott’s voice was on point and sounded amazing, I even think it sounded better than in the past. Scott’s energy was far above and beyond what I expected, and you would feel that energy permeate from the stage and into the crowd. Each band member was engaging and gave 110% to their performance. Scott would talk with the crowd in between songs making sure to show his appreciate to the 20,000 fans who came to see them perform. The crowd was energized the entire night with fans singing along with each of their favorite songs. I found myself standing in the pit singing along with some of my favorites as I was taking pictures. The show included large screens behind the band that displayed different images and colors throughout the night. They also had intense pyro that would go off during certain parts of a song and the lighting, the lighting was the best I have seen in years. Some bands put on this dark, silhouette lighting and it is hard to even see them on the stage, but, not Creed. You could clearly see each band member even if you were sitting back on the lawn, you still had a clear view of them performing.

This Creed performance was by far one of the best shows I have covered all year. I left the show that night in complete awe of what I just experienced. If you are a Creed fan and you have never seen them perform live before then you cannot miss this tour. You will hear all your favorite songs and be energized the entire night. This is a tour you don’t want to miss; I promise you.
