FOREIGNER LIVE!! | WALNUT CREEK

f28 covered the legendary band Foreigner during their tour stop with Styx at the Walnut Creek Amphitheater (Coastal Credit Union Music Park). Now, for all you die hard Foreigner fans we are aware that this is a completely different line up then the original band members, with that being said, they put on an incredibly energetic performance. The bands original members who started the group in the late 70’s consisted of vocalist Lou Gramm, lead guitarist Mick Jones, keyboardist Al Greenwood, drummer Dennis Elliott, bassist Ed Gagliardi and multi-instrumentalist Ian McDonald. The band has had several lineup changes over their career with one of the most ponente changes being when lead singer Lou Gramm left the band in 1990, went back and left again in 2003. Current singer Kelly Hansen became the permanent replacement in 2005 after auditioning for the position. The only current original member that occasionally toured with the band is Mick Jones, but due to a medical diagnosis he has since retired from touring with the band. Now that we got a little history out of the way let’s talk about the show!

Let me start off by saying the bands current lineup, even though they are not the original members, are incredible performers and Kelly Hansen sounds amazing. The energy of the band is incredible, and they are so much fun to watch perform. You get to hear some of your favorite classic Foreigner songs and Kelly does a great job singing them, you can see that Kelly was born for this! The band was engaging with the fans and even had a local North Carolina high school choir join them on stage to help perform their classic song “I want to know what love is”. I have had the joy of covering their tour stops in Raleigh on two other occasions and even got to see original guitarist Mick Jones on one of those occasions. The band is one of the most iconic bands to ever grace the world of music and I love hearing some of my favorite songs performed live. It is a really fun show, and I recommend anyone to go check them out!
