THIRD EYE BLIND LIVE!! | WALNUT CREEK

Coverage by James Benson

On the 21st of July, Third Eye Blind brought their Summer Gods 2024 Tour to a packed Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek. It was your typical, hot, humid July evening, but that didn't stop anyone, bands or the fans from enjoying themselves. There were many different age groups at this show, which was cool to see. Parents bringing their children to grandparents and the whole family to see a wonderful concert. The first band to take the stage was ARIZONA. These guys, coding from New Jersey, are absolutely fantastic. They got the crowd's attention and the crowd never took their eyes off them. Many sang along with the band as they played their songs. They are a great band live, and they did a wonderful job opening up the concert.

The next band to take the stage was Yellowcard. The crowd got loud when the lights dimmed and you could see them coming on, They played many of the hits and a few songs that you would have to do a deep dive into if you weren't exactly familiar with them. The fans sang along to every song with Yellowcard and you could tell they were loving it and getting some energy from it. Yellowcard knows how to put on a show and the crowd was into it. There wasn't a person around not singing along or cheering as they played.

After Yellowcard finished their set, the crowd started to cheer for Third Eye Blind. The lights went out and the band took the stage. As I watched the band perform it felt like I was drifting into my past, because Third Eye Blind was one of my first live concert experiences back in 1998/1999. Being able to see them perform live again and to cover their performance all these years later made my heart happy. These guys haven't lost a single step.  They played ALL the hits and honestly, some songs that should have been hits. Every single person in the venue was singing along with Stephen Jenkins and not missing a word.

As the show went on the band surprised us with an intimate mini acoustic set that made their already energized performance even more engaging After the bands mini acoustic set they brought out the electrice guitars again and continued to rock the night away. They performed some of their biggest hits including, “How's It Going to Be”, which got the entire venue to sing in harmony and I would be surprised if the entire city of Raleigh didn’t hear it. All together the show was just perfect, the bands performance was one I will remember forever. Couldn't have asked for better! Hopefully Third Eye Blind comes back to North Carolina soon because we love them here. If you weren't able to make it to this show, I highly suggest going to see them perform next time they are playing a show close to you! You won’t regret it!
