FLATLAND CAVALRY LIVE!! | REDHAT
Coverage by Angela Ghallager
My 2025 summer concert season kicked off on June 21st at the Redhat Amphitheater in Raleigh with a performance by Flatland Cavalry. As someone who typically gravitates towards Rock & Metal, I was pleasantly surprised by this show! Flatland Cavalry, formed in Lubbock, Texas, is known for their unique blend of Country and Americana. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it quickly became clear that it was going to be a fantastic night.
The crowd was a vibrant sea of people dressed in flowy skirts, vests, jeans, and boots. When the opener, Ian Munsick, took the stage, the energy was palpable. Everyone immediately started singing along and dancing. I thoroughly enjoyed his set; his connection with the crowd was impressive, and his stage presence was undeniable. He even performed medleys of pop music, including hits from Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and Sabrina Carpenter’s "Espresso." It was a great way to get the crowd warmed up!
When they were setting up for Flatland Cavalry, I was loving the stage build. A green velvet couch, lamps, displays of cassette tapes & framed photos. And, of course, a framed picture of the great Willie Nelson. The band walked on stage to loud cheers & clapping, and they were ready to roll. Their sound is seamless & the crowd interaction was on point with some really awesome energy. Some of their top songs are ‘A Life Where We Work Out’, ‘If We Said Goodbye’, and a new personal favorite of mine is their cover of ‘Landslide’ (Fleetwood Mac). If you haven’t heard that cover, go listen…right now. So good!
This really was a great show! I loved the melodic vocals along with solid musicians. They have earned a spot on my playlist, which says a lot! Check them out during their 2025 tour if you get the chance!
