Hoobastank Brings High‑Energy Nostalgia to Coastal Credit Union Music Park
Hoobastank took the stage at the sold‑out Coastal Credit Union Music Park in Raleigh, performing in support of Staind’s headlining tour and reminding 19,000 fans exactly why their music defined an entire generation. With hits like Crawling in the Dark, The Reason, Running Away, Same Direction, and many more, Hoobastank’s catalog has long been woven into the soundtrack of early‑2000s youth. Their return to the stage feels both familiar and refreshing — especially with the release of their first new single since 2018, How Do You Sleep, which dropped earlier this year.
For me, this was a bucket‑list moment. Hoobastank’s songs carried me through my early twenties, and hearing them live again brought back memories I didn’t realize I’d been missing. The band delivered a performance full of energy and heart. Lead singer Doug Robb moved around the stage with the same fire he had decades ago, singing with passion and putting everything he had into each moment. His voice carried the weight of nostalgia but still felt sharp and present.
Lead guitarist Dan Estrin matched that intensity, playing each riff with grit and attitude as he moved across the stage. His performance had that signature Hoobastank edge — the kind of raw, emotional playing that made their songs resonate so deeply when they first hit the airwaves. The band sounded tight, polished, and fully locked in, and hearing those familiar melodies again genuinely brought a smile to my face.
It’s exciting to see Hoobastank continuing to tour and create new music. They’re one of the most beloved bands of their era for a reason, and their ability to evolve while still honoring the sound that made them famous is something fans truly appreciate. I hope this momentum continues, they still have plenty left to say.
