A living legend delivering a night fans will never forget

We had the honor of covering a living legend — a 70s and 80s icon, a hit maker, and one of the most beloved songwriters of our time. The man himself: Bob Seger. And yes, that intro is strong, but it’s earned. His music was the soundtrack to countless lives, shaping memories, moments, and entire generations. The number of hit songs he’s written or been part of is staggering, and seeing him live in Raleigh on May 23, 2019, was nothing short of extraordinary.

Seger stepped onto the Walnut Creek stage with his vocals already soaring, sounding fantastic and full of energy. Even after decades of performing, he still carried that unmistakable spark — the excitement, the grit, the warmth — that made his music timeless. Fans stood and watched in awe, embracing every note, every lyric, and the rare chance to witness a legend performing songs that have lived in their hearts for years.

He opened with a track that defined an entire movie‑lover generation: “Shakedown.” For anyone who grew up on Beverly Hills Cop II, that song instantly brings Eddie Murphy to mind. Hearing it live was a rush of nostalgia, and the crowd lit up the moment the first notes hit.

His catalog is a treasure chest of classics — Still the Same, Night Moves, Old Time Rock and Roll, Against the Wind, Hollywood Nights, We’ve Got Tonight — and the list goes on and on. Every song felt like a chapter from someone’s life, and Seger delivered some of them with the same heart and authenticity that made them iconic.

For me, this was a bucket‑list moment. Getting to see Bob Seger perform, to photograph him, to be in the presence of a musician whose work shaped so much of our cultural soundtrack — it was a true pleasure. And judging by the faces in the crowd, I wasn’t the only one who felt that way.

One of the best shows of the year, and one that I — and many others — will never forget.
