BEN RECTOR LIVE!! | REDHAT IN RALEIGH
Ben Rector performed at the Redhat Amphitheater on June 10th in Raleigh North Carolina in support of his latest release called “The Joy of Music” which came out on March 11th 2022. Ben Rector is a singer songwriter and record producer who has released 7 studio albums so far over the course of his career. His album “Magic” (released in 2018) debuted at number 1 on the billboard Americana/Folk Album Charts. He is currently on tour with support from singer songwriter JP Sax, check out the link below for more information on tour dates.
Ben’s show started off with a funny kick. While we were waiting for him to come to the stage a large red fuzzy ball with eyes and arms walked out onto the stage and a spotlight then shined on it. The entire crowd started laughing and clapping. As this huge “red ball of joy”, unofficial name of course, walked onto the stage you could hear a piano being played in the background slowly getting louder. Then from off stage you started to hear Ben singing. A few moments later Ben walked out onto the stage and the crowd went nuts. Everyone stood up and started clapping their hands together and screaming Ben’s name. Ben waved at the crowd and propped himself up on the piano and continued with his first song. After he was done with his first song he went over and gave that big “red ball of joy”, again not it’s official name, a hug and everyone in the venue started clapping.
Ben then grabbed the microphone and said hello and asked how everyone was doing. He thanked everyone for being there and let them all know that tonight they were going to have a great time. Ben then went into his second song and the crowd started to sing along. During the middle of the second song Ben stopped the band at one point and asked the crowd to participate in the song while they perform it. He gave the crowd directions on which part to sing on and then the band started back up and the crowd sang along with the rest of the song. During his performance Ben brought a lot of humor and engagement and made sure to include everyone in his performance. He was funny and sounded incredible. One of the funnier moments is when a train started to come through the Raleigh train station which is near the venue and Ben stopped singing until the train went past. He talked to the crowd as the train was coming through and when the train passed, he started right back where he left off.
Ben Rector puts on a fun, relaxing and joyful concert experience. He makes you feel as if you are a part of the show, and it really is a night you won’t forget. If you get the chance to see him perform live you won’t regret, it.
