Flume made waves at the Redhat Amphitheater during his tour stop in Raleigh on June 12th. This sold-out show was one big dance party that echoed throughout the entire city. Before the night even began, music fans started to fill up the venue, some wearing colorful shirts with scarfs wrapped around their necks to other fans wearing little more than nothing but painted on glitter and rainbow-colored stickies. Fans also brought glow sticks, glow umbrellas and hand fans that also glowed with various colors and designs. There was this electricity of energy that permeated throughout the venue as fans got ready to hear one of their favorite DJ’s. The supporting act that came on before Flume was an extremely talented and great performer Tinashe. Her performance was filled with dance choreography which included several back up dancers as well as a large screen behind her showing pictures or video while she performed. She did a great job, and it was really enjoyable watching her perform.

After Tinashe finished with her set you saw the fans starting to get really excited in anticipation of Flumes arrival. The stage had this archway that was placed behind two standing desks which held his beat making instruments of choice and included colorful lights that pulsed off and on. Once you saw that, you knew this was going to be a crazy party.

Before Flume even hit the stage, fans were so excited that some started pushing against the barricade with some fans yelling and screaming “Flume, Flume!!”. Before you knew it the lights went dim and the venue exploded with music fans screaming their lungs out and pumping their fist in the air. Then Flume walks out into the stage, and it got even louder. I am pretty sure that several towns over from Raleigh could hear all the Flume fans screaming his name. Once he started into his first song the venue just lit up with a mixture of color lights cascading over the crowd, and all you saw was a sea of dancing bodies and hands waving in the air. It was incredible to see live and in person. I had never experienced something that energized from the very start of a show. This energy never died down; it was strong the entire time Flume performed. If you are a fan of Flume then you would not want to miss him on tour, it really is one big party, and everyone wants to have a good time. The music sounded great, and it was definitely a night I won’t soon forget.
