PALLBEARER LIVE!! | DURHAM NC
Article and Photos by James Benson
On the 11th of June, in Durham, NC, three bands that music genres blended very well together played an amazing show in a packed house. The fifth stop of the Temporary Spaces North American Tour landed at the Fruit in Durham, NC. The Keening, REZN, and Pallbearer all gave 110 percent to the crowd. They also all have new albums that they are supporting while on tour.
The Keening was the first to take the stage. Coming all the way from Portland, Oregon, The Kenning performed a hauntingly beautiful set. Their sound is definitely unique and beautiful. Honestly, they are one of those bands that are hard to describe, but in a good way. I really hope they come back to NC.
The Kenning Setlist:
Autumn
Eden
Little Bird
The Hunter I
The Hunter II
Next to take the stage was REZN.
Coming from Chicago, Illinois, REZN is an earful of heavy, yet hypnotizing music. What was also awesome about them is that not only was the music heavy, with the guitars and drums, but the synth and saxophone, yes...the saxophone was amazing in the music. REZN is a mixture of what I'd say of psychedelia and prog and they do an amazing job performing live. Then the moment everyone was waiting for, Pallbearer took the stage after an amazing performance by REZN.
REZN Setlist:
Possession
Chasm
Optic Echo
Faded and Fleeting
Stasis
Indigo
Relax
Pallbearer, from Little Rock Arkansas, took the stage and immediately started playing and had the crowd in a trance. The "Doom Metal" band played nine songs, mostly new ones off the new album, Mind Burns Alive, and a few fan favorites. There wasn't much talking between songs, which was actually pretty nice. They just kept playing, connecting each song together like they belonged together. Pallbearer had the crowd singing along, smiling, yet hypnotized with their set. It was an amazing thing to witness.
Pallbearer Setlist:
Silver Wings
Mind Burns Alive
Fear and Fury
Where the Light Fades
The Ghost I Used to Be
Endless Place
Signals
With Disease
Foreigner
Altogether, it was a fantastic evening with three bands I have never heard or seen before, and I came out a fan. The three bands gave a wonderful show and not a person left there disappointed. Definitely catch these bands live!
