PAULA ABDUL LIVE!! | WALNUT CREEK
We got the privilege of covering Paula Abdul during her tour stop at the Coastal Credit Union Music Park and it was a memorable event. Paula Abdul has been involved in so many aspects of music and dance that it is not even feasible to list them all here, but I will give some highlights. Paula has sold over 60 million records over her long career with hits such as, “Straight Up”, “Rush Rush”, “Cold Hearted” and many others. One of my all-time favorites is “Opposites Attract” which was not only a killer song but a really cool music video! She was also the choreographer for several Janet Jackson music videos such as “Nasty”, “Control” and “What have you done for me lately” just to name a few. She was also one of the original judges on American Idol and was on the show until 2009. That is just a small, tiny tidbit of her illustrious career because if I were to try and cover everything, I would need several pages!
Paul brought her award-winning choreography skills to the Walnut Creek in Raleigh and put on a show full of dance numbers, humor and performed some of her biggest hits including “Rush Rush”. She entered the stage on a rising platform that pushed her up above the stage as a large screen behind her played images from Paula’s career. She then started into her hit song “Straight Up” followed by “Vibeology” and then topped off with another classic of hers called “Cold Hearted”. Paula Abdul put on a very energetic performance and was nonstop throughout her set. Each dancer on her team were great and matched each other seamlessly with each move they made. She had props that were reminiscent of what a typical clothing store from the 80’s would look like which only provide a visual guide to the era of music she was performing. Paula to me is someone who is a musical icon in the world of music and dance. With her career spanning over 40 years which include several hit songs, grammy awards, incredible chorography collaborations with other music icons such as Janet Jackon and let’s not forget her impact on the reality TV circuit with a little show called American Idol. Paula has proven over and over again that she is one hell of an artist and continues to be a huge impact and inspiration to many in the world of music.
