SOCCER MOMMY LIVE!! | CATS CRADLE

Coverage by Chris Sturk

We got to cover Soccer Mommy during her tour stop at the Cats Cradle in Carrborro NC on January 24th. The venue was packed as it was a sold out show. Soccer Mommy is the stage name for singer songwriter Sophia Regina Allison and is a well known musician around the world. Soccer Mommy has put out four albums with her most recent album “Evergreen” released in 2024. One of my favorite songs from her ever growing catalog is called “Driver” which is off the new record. The melody, tone and composition of the song blend together beautifully to create a classic song that I will be on many music fans playlists.

Soccer Mommy walked out onto the stage to a screaming and exicted crowd. Everytime I looked out into the sold out venue all I could see were smiling faces and people excited to be there. Soccer Mommy said hello to the crowd and engaged them a few times during her set. Sophia’s vocal performance sounded great and the band as a whole sounded really good. The show had a relaxed, calm and chilled out vibe to it. There were no spectacular pyrothenics or huge smoke machines as non of that was needed because the music did all the talking with no distractions. The band did have a really cool circle screen in the back that did show various colors and designs throughout the performance. They also had plants placed in front of the stage which added this kind of “back porch” live performance feel to the show.

I really enjoyed seeing Soccer Mommy perform and seeing so many people come out to support her and her music. Soccer Mommy continues to grow as an artist and with four albums under her belt has already started to create a catalog of legendary songs with many more to come.
