VANDELUX LIVE!! | CATS CRADLE

Coverage by Larissa Blankenship

The crowd at Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro, NC was lit in an array of colorful lights as Vandelux took to the stage on November 12th. Vandelux is the stage name of Evan White, an instrumentalist and vocalist from Vancouver, Canada. Vandelux began his music career in 2016 in the underground music scene and later climbed the charts with his single “Matter of Time” off of his debut album When the Light Breaks. His unique music style brings together a blend of bass beats, electronic sounds, and incredible vocals that get his fans dancing. During his career, Vandelux has performed at multiple festivals, such as Bonnaroo, but he is now on the road for his Closer tour.

The crowd at Cat’s Cradle showed up ready to party. As the bass thumped from the speakers the audience danced along and Vandelux was clearly having a great time. Many people wore glow stick bracelets and necklaces and one person even danced at the back of the crowd spinning a large multi-light glow stick. Vandelux stood on a raised platform surrounded by his various instruments. He moved between them with ease, layering music and vocals as he built each track. The night featured songs across his albums and EPs such as “Tulum” off When the Light Breaks and “Glow” off his most recent album, Closer, which was released in October of this year. Vandelux’s ability to operate as a one-man-band is impressive enough but he went above and beyond by turning the whole venue into a dance party. If you are looking for a great night of musical talent and good vibes definitely go to a Vandelux show.
