LYNYRD SKYNYRD LIVE!! | WALNUT CREEK

On September 15th, legendary bands ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd came to Coastal Credit Union Music Park (Walnut Creek) in Raleigh and absolutely blew the roof off. There were fans and families of all ages at this show. It was awesome to see.

ZZ TOP

The lights went down, and out came ZZ Top. The crowd was booming, and it was awesome to see and feel. The legend himself, Billy Gibbons, and the rest of the members of ZZ Top started playing and the music didn’t stop. The first song they played, Got Me Under Pressure, featured a monstrous 17 string bass maneuvered by bassist Elwood Francis. It was a sight to see! They had an 18-song setlist, and wow, it was hit after hit after hit! Not a single person was sitting down, and everyone was singing along with the band. From young kids to older adults, everyone was jamming along. ZZ Top was phenomenal and did a great job prepping the crowd ready for the next legendary rock band.

It wasn't long after ZZ Top left the stage that Lynyrd Skynyrd took over. The crowd erupted as soon as they saw the band, before a single note was even sounded. What was really cool was they showed a video of the history of the band, who is celebrating 50 years of Lynyrd Skynyrd. It was simply amazing. The band has done a great job continuing the tradition. And what an epic setlist! Like ZZ Top, it was hit after hit after hit. I will have to say, the one thing that resonated with me in particular was their dedication of the song Simple Man to the military and first responders. Being an Army Veteran, that song hit different by virtue of that special dedication, and it personally meant a lot. So thanks guys! .

Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top gave an amazing show that left everyone, young and old, smiling and singing as they left. It was an honor to cover these two legendary bands. If you have the chance to catch them live, do it! Legends like these will only be around for so long!
